Sedgefiled The sleepy, but fast growing town of Sedgefield lies between Knysna and George, flanked on the one side by bush-covered sand dunes and impressive inland mountains on the other.
The village is a good base point to explore the Goukamma Nature and Marine Reserve, as well as the western extent of Groenvlei, a freshwater lake. The reserve has a 14km stretch of coast and is home to a wide variety of fauna and flora, including the Cape clawless otter.
Sedgefield offers the bird-watcher wonderful opportunities to view varied bird species found in the different ecosystems in the area. Near Gerickes Point there are beautiful rock formations, while the Swartvlei Lagoon is the largest natural inland salt-water lake in South Africa.
