Paarl :: PLAY :: Cultivaria 27 to 30 October 2012

Cultivaria 27 to 30 October 2012 Cultivaria 27 to 30 October 2012

The annual Cultivaria arts festival presented in association with Drakenstein Municipality will take place from 27 to 30 October in the historic Boland town of Paarl. Festival visitors can look forward to a completely new format as the festival arena will move to the awe-inspiring open air amphitheatre on top of the landmark Paarl Mountain.

The festival will start with the glamorous Bovril Black Tie Dinner Table on Thursday, 27 October, with a thousand diners sitting down for an open-air, gourmet three-course dinner with fine wines and live entertainment. The festival arena will feature the Moir’s main arena for spectacular evening performances and a further four air-conditioned, luxury production theatres where a selection of the country’s top musical, drama and comedy productions will be staged daily between 09h00 and 17h00. The outdoor hospitality terrace is nestled against the slopes of Paarl Rock and offers panoramic views over the Paarl Valley and the Cape Peninsula. This is the perfect venue for festival goers to sit back, relax and enjoy the company of friends as well as fine wines and great food between productions. Food enthusiasts can enjoy daily food demonstrations by celebrity chef Sonia Cabano in the Bokomo Kitchen as she celebrates traditional Boland cuisine.

Don’t miss the once-off performance of the brand new production of Timeless with Rina Hugo, Arina de Witt, Jannie Moolman and Kevin Leo in the Moir’s main arena on Friday, 28 October. French singer Myra Maud and Italian tenor Cristian Mangano will be the guest artists during this musical extravaganza. On Sunday evening, the Moir’s arena will also host the grand finale of the festival with a sunset concert with South Africa’s cross-over band Mango Groove with its intoxicating combination of African jazz, pop music and big band swing music.

Children are catered for in the Liqui-Fruit children’s theatre, which will provide a jam-packed programme of kids entertainment as well as fabulous outdoor adventures under the supervision of trained personnel.
