Addo National Park Addo is a small town in the heart of a citrus growing, malaria free area about an hour’s drive from Port Elizabeth, and 887km from Cape Town. Known for its horse breeding, roses and abundant bird life, its backdrop is the Zuurberg Mountains, which offer a variety of hikes and horse trails for the adventurous.
Addo’s best known attraction is the Addo Elephant National Park, home to over 450 elephants, which provides some of the most spectacular elephant viewing in the world. The park has unrivalled natural diversity and also boasts the so-called Big Seven - elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo, leopard, whales and great white sharks – in their natural habitat. The unique flightless dung beetle is found almost exclusively in Addo. Burchell’s zebra, Cape mountain zebra, spotted hyenas, mountain reedbuck, baboons, blue duiker, aardwolf and red rock rabbit are some of the other game species found in the park.
